Abstract
Aluminum is one of the many materials found in the environment around, one of them is in the soft drink industry where aluminum is strong, easily formed, and resistant to corrosion, hence it is suitable for use as the main material for industrial equipment. The more abundant use of aluminum in daily life both in the environment or in the industry can make aluminum waste become more and more. Aluminum that has been wasted and is not used anymore can be reused. One way to use it is by recycling aluminum waste. The recycling method that is often used is the method of casting. However, the result of the casting is sometimes experiencing deficiencies that can cause damage to the components. In the process of casting with an aluminum base material aluminum material is usually combined with other metals such as tin (Sn) to produce high-quality specimens. The purpose of this study is to analyze the ratio of the value of hardness, impact strength, and tensile strength of the indirect aluminum casting and analyze the comparison of the mechanical properties of casting with 3%, 6%, and 9% mixture of tin. From the results of the analysis of hardness and impact testing show that the increasing Sn element in aluminum casting decreases the average value of hardness and the impact value also decreases, while in tensile testing the increasing Sn element in aluminum smelting increases the average ultimate stress and strain value. From the results of hardness testing, the highest average BHN was found in specimens without a mixture at 48,129 while the lowest average BHN was found in aluminum specimens mixed with 9% of Sn at 41,583. then on the impact test the highest average HI value was found in aluminum specimens without a mixture of 0.0494 while the lowest values were found on aluminum specimens mixed with 9% of Sn at 0.0291. then in the tensile test the highest ultimate stress value was found in aluminum specimens mixed with Sn 9% at 7,001 kgf / mm² and the highest strain values were also found in aluminum specimens mixed with Sn 9% at 3.73%. while the lowest ultimate stress value is found in non-mixed aluminum specimens at 6,217 kgf/mm² and the lowest strain values are also found in unmixed aluminum specimens at 2.86%.
