Abstract
Children in school age are easily suffer ffom dental caries. This problem is caused by the lack of oral and dental health knowledge. One of caries preventive effort is through counselling. There are various methods of counselling, for example clasical methode and video methode. Problem: The lack of oral and dental health knowledge caused prevalence of dental caries among elementary school students very high. Aim: This study’s aim is to compare the effectiveness between clasical methode and video towards students’s knowledge of oral and dental health. Methode: Study methode was quasi eksperiment. The subjects were 44 fourth grade students of SDI Az-Zahrah (first group) used clasical methode and 44 fourth grade students of SDI Az-Zahrah (second group) used video methode. Data design was quantitative and data analysis used paired samples T test with significancy rate 0.05. Result: The result of pre test analysis showed that knowledge of both groups almost same. After intevention, the result showedthat are increase of knowledge on both groups, but seen a higher increase on video group than clasical group (p<0,05). Conclusion: Video methode is more effective than clasical methode in increasing student’s knowledge of oral and dental health.
