Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh strategi pembelajaran RAFT terhadap kemampuan menulis teks deskripsi siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Indralaya Utara. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen semu. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 2 kelas yaitu kelas VII.A yang berjumlah 29 siswa sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VII.D yang berjumlah 29 siswa sebagai kelas kontrol. Kelas eksperimen merupakan kelas yang diberi perlakuan menggunakan strategi pembelajaran RAFT sedangkan kelas kontrol merupakan kelas dengan strategi pembelajaran kovensional. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik tes dan teknik pengolahan data menggunakan perhitungan uji-t dengan program SPSS 24. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan hasil tes antara kelas eksperimen dengan kelas kontrol. Nilai rata-rata tes awal kelas eksperimen 59,17 dan kelas kontrol 59,86. Sementara nilai rata-rata tes akhir kelas eksperimen 81,27 dan kelas kontrol 74,37. Dari hasil perhitungan uji-t membuktikan bahwa thitung > ttabel = 3,516 > 2,002 dengan df = 58 pada tingkat signifikansi 95% (α = 0,025). Dengan demikian, Ha yang berbunyi “Ada perbedaan kemampuan menulis teks antara siswa yang diajar menggunakan strategi RAFT dan siswa yang diajar menggunakan strategi kovensional kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Indralaya Utara diterima. Kesimpulan, strategi pembelajaran RAFT berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan menulis teks deskripsi siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Indralaya Utara.
