Abstract

This study aims to determine the physicochemical characteristics of nanocalcium snakehead fish bone with different solvents. The solvents used were distilled water, HCl 1N, and NaOH 1N. This study was carried out in an experimental laboratory used the Non-Factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) method with 3 treatments and 2 replicates. The physical properties of snakehead fish bone nanocalcium tested were particle size and whiteness. The chemical properties tested included moisture content, ash content, calcium and phosporus content, solubility and Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR). The data analysis used was an Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) at a significance level of 0,05 and continued with the LSD (Least Significant Difference) Advanced Test, while the particle size and functional groups were analyzed descriptively. The result showed that the smallest particle size distribution was produced by HCL 1N solvent with a value 264,5 ± 29,5 nm. In addition, the use of different solvents significantly affected the whiteness with the highest value of 86,78 ± 0,44 % obtained from NaOH 1N treatment. In the chemical properties of nanocalcium snakehead fish bone, the difference in solvents also significantly affected the water content with a range of 0,65-1,31%, ash content 91,15-98,26%, and solubility 4,24-6,32%. Calcium content ranged from 20.25-21.38% and phosphorus from 0,02-0,129%. Analysis of the nanocalcium functional group of snakehead fish bone showed the presence of phosphate group (PO43-), hydrogen phosphate group (HPO42-), hydroxyl group (OH-), and carbonate groups (CO32-). In this study, hydroxyapatite (HAp) was formed with type A [Ca10(PO4)6CO3] and type B carbonate apatite [Ca10(PO4)3(CO3)3(OH)2].
