Abstract

Feed is a component in fish cultivation which plays an important role as a determinant of growth. Some study results show that the ability of kissing gourami to utilize feed for growth is still low. The supplementation of certain ingredients on feed can stimulate an increase in fish growth performance. One of these ingredients is cinnamon leaves, and has been proven to be able to increase fish growth. This study aimed to determine the best percentage of supplementation cinnamon leaves meal on feed for maximize growth and feed efficiency of kissing gourami.This study was conducted at the Fisheries Basic Laboratory, Aquaculture Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, from December 2022 to January 2023. This study used a completely randomized design with five treatments and three replications. The treatments given was the supplementation of cinnamon leaves meal with different percentage on commercial feed for kissing gourami, consisting of 0% (P0), 0.75% (P1), 1.0% (P2), 1.25% (P3), and 1.5% (P4). The results showed that the best percentage of supplementation cinnamon leaves meal on commercial feed for kissing gourami was 1.0%, which resulted in a absolute length growth of 0.62 cm, a absolute weight growth of 1.02 g, feed efficiency of 27.88%, and survival of 97.2%. Water quality parameters during the study were temperatures ranged from 26.4 to 28.9oC, dissolved oxygen ranged from 3.8 to 4.6 mg L-1, pH ranged from 6.2 to 7.2, and ammonia ranged from 0.014 to 0.049 mg L-1.
