Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine the perception of students majoring in Civic Education at Sriwijaya University towards the use of the TikTok social media platform as a medium for creative video content and to understand the impact arising from the use of TikTok social media. The research method employed in this study is qualitative. The sampling technique used in this research is purposive sampling with 4 informants and data collection techniques include documentation, interviews, and observation. The results of the research reveal that: 1) The majority of students majoring in Civic Education, batch 21, at Sriwijaya University's Palembang campus have a positive perception towards the use of TikTok as a platform for creative video content. 2) The impact of using the TikTok social media platform includes both positive and negatif effects. Positively, TikTok stimulates creativity in various fields, improves mood, provides easy access to concise and clear learning content, aids in understanding materials, and enhances general knowledge. The negatif impacts include addiction to usage and the dissemination of inappropriate content such as harassment and the spread of fake news.
