Abstract

This Research aims to determine the influence of Example non-Examples methods on the ability of writing the explanatory texts for eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Indralaya. This study used quasi-experimental methods. The study consisted of two research samples, namely the VIII. 5 class with a total of 32 students as an experimental class was given the treatment using the Example non-Examples method and the control class namely the VIII. 6 class with the total of 32 students were given lessons using conventional methods. The techniques of collecting the data was using test techniques and processing data using SPSS 23 programs. The results of this study can be seen that there was a difference in the average value between the experimental class and the control class. The experimental class obtained an average score of Pre-test was 58,62 and an average score of Post-test was 83,37. In the control class obtained the average score of Pre- test was 51,87 and the average score of Post-test was 72,28. From results of T-test showed that the value with df (62) with a significance level of 95% tcount (6,154)> t table (1.999) then Ho was rejected, meaning that there were significant differences between the experimental class and the control class. Thus, it can be concluded that there was an influence of Example non-Examples method on the ability of writing the explanatory texts of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Indrlaya.
