Abstract

Central obesity is the accumulation of more fat in the abdominal area. Central obesity is one of the causes of degenerative diseases, such as type 2 diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, coronary heart disease, hypertension, cancer and metabolic syndrome. Several factors can cause central obesity, namely nutritional knowledge, consumption patterns, physical activity and body image. This study aims to determine the relationship between nutritional knowledge, consumption patterns, physical activity and body image with the incidence of central obesity in adults aged 25-55 years in the sidorejo health center area in Pagar Alam City. The study design used in this study was cross-sectional, carried out in the Sidorejo Health Center Area, Pagar Alam City, in 2022. The study sample consisted of 77 people. The sampling technique uses cluster sampling. Data analysis used the chi square test. Presented in tabular form accompanied by data interpretation. The results of the analysis of the variables are nutritional knowledge (p=0.370), consumption patterns (p=0.000), physical activity (p=0.004) and body image (p=0.017). The results showed that there was no relationship between nutritional knowledge and the incidence of central obesity, on the contrary, a relationship was found between consumption patterns, physical activity and body image with the incidence of central obesity.
