Abstract

THAMICA FEBRIYANTI, Physical Analysis and Antioxidant Activity of Lozenges from Extract of Water Lettuce (Pistia stratiotes). (Supervised by SABRI SUDIRMAN) The Water Lettuce plant (Pistia stratiotes) is one of the aquatic plants found in South Sumatra which can function as an anti-oxidant. The aim of this research was to determine the formula for apu-apu lozenges based on the physical characteristics and antioxidant activity of the Water Lettuce lozenges formula. The lozenge formulation consists of four formulas based on apu-apu bioactives, namely A (0%), B (10%), C (20%), and D (30%). The composition of the lozenge formula consists of apu-apu extract powder, corn flour, stevia herbal sugar and mint. Based on physical tests, the uniformity of size of all tablets meets the standard, namely 1.13-1.8 cm. The hardness of the tablets from the four formulations ranges from 0.92 to 1.86 Kg with formulation C having higher hardness compared to formulations A, B and D. The disintegration time of the lozenge tablets all meet the standard with a time of 1 to 2.6 minutes. Based on physical testing of Apu-apu lozenges, the formula selected was formula C except for the hardness test which did not meet the standards. In the antioxidant test, Apu-apu lozenges had IC50 values of A (0%) 437.51 ppm, B (10%) 431.05 ppm, C (20%) 429.66 ppm and D (30%) 385.98 ppm . Of the four Water Lettuce lozenge formulas that have a nearly high antioxidant value, formulation D (30%) is 385.98 ppm. (Pembimbing SABRI SUDIRMAN) Tumbuhan apu-apu (Pistia stratiotes) merupakan salah satu tumbuhan perairan yang terdapat di Sumatera Selatan yang dapat berfungsi sebagai antikosidan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menentukan formula tablet hisap apu-apu berdasarkan karakteristik fisik dan aktivitas antioksidan pada formula tablet hisap apu-apu. Formulasi tablet hisap terdiri dari empat formula berdasarkan bioaktif apu-apu yaitu A (0%), B (10%), C (20%), dan D (30%). Komposisi formula tablet hisap terdiri dari bubuk ekstrak apu-apu, tepung jagung, gula herbal stevia dan mint. Berdasarkan uji fisik keseragaman ukuran semua tablet memenuhi standar yaitu 1,13-1,8 cm. Kekerasan tablet dari empat formulasi yaitu berkisar 0,92-1,86 Kg dengan formulasi C memiliki kekerasan lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan formulasi A, B, dan D. Waktu hancur tablet hisap semuanya memenuhi standar dengan waktu 1 sampai dengan 2,6 menit. Berdasarkan pengujian fisik tablet hisap apu-apu formula yang terpilih adalah formula C kecuali pada uji kekerasan yang belum memenuhi standar. Pada pengujian antioksidan tablet hisap apu-apu memiliki nilai IC50 A (0%) 437,51 ppm, B (10%) 431,05 ppm, C (20%) 429,66 ppm dan D (30%) 385,98 ppm. Dari empat formula tablet hisap apu-apu yang memiliki nilai antioksidan yang mendekati tinggi adalah formulasi D (30%) sebesar 385,98 ppm.
