Abstract

the research is a quantitative descriptive study. The subject is student of class IX3-IX7 Junior High School number 1 Indralaya selected by purposive sampling technique. this study aims to describe students’ mathematical connection ability and obtain student descriptions in solving curve side space problems using mathematics modeling. The data collection technique used is a written test consisting of 2 questions. Based on the results of the study, it was 23,07% categorized well, 53,86% categorized less, and 23,07% categorized very poorly. As for the indicator connecting math problems with real world problems, almost all students have been able to master it, while the indicators that students still find difficult are connecting mathematical topics Keywords: mathematical connection ability, mathematialc modeling
