Abstract

Menarche is a sign for young women to entering puberty. The incidence of menarche is currently showing a decline in age. The incidence of early menarche occurs when a teenager experiences menarche at the age of under 11 years. Early menarche is associated with risk factors for various diseases such as breast cancer, ovarian cancer, uterine myoma and can increase the risk of cardiovascular disorders. In addition, early menarche can also affect the psychological condition of a teenager. This study aims to determine the factors that influence the occurrence of early menarche. As well as knowing the most dominant factors influencing the occurrence of early menarche. This type of research is an observational study with a cross sectional design. The subjects of this study were seventh grade students of SMP number 12 Jambi City who had experienced menarche with a total of 132 samples. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling technique. Collecting data using a questionnaire as well as measuring tools and microtoice scales. The analysis used chi square test and multiple logistic regression analysis predictive model. The results of the statistical test of this study showed that 31.1% of students who experienced early menarche were. Based on bivariate analysis, there was a significant relationship between maternal age at menarche (p-value = 0.018), nutritional status (p-value = 0.000), physical activity (p-value = 0.001), economic status (p-value = 0.004), consumption junk food (p-value = 0.030), exposure to adult mass media (p-value = 0.006), association with the opposite sex (p-value = 0.003) with the incidence of early menarche in students of SMP number 12 Jambi City. Nutritional status is the most dominant variable influencing the incidence of early menarche in students of SMP number 12 Jambi City after being controlled by the variables of maternal age at menarche, economic status, exposure to adult mass media and association with the opposite sex at risk. It can be concluded that the most dominant factor associated with the incidence of early menarche in SMP N 12 Jambi City is nutritional status. It is hoped that adolescents who experience early menarche will have their health checked regularly and must adopt a healthy lifestyle so as not to exacerbate the risks that will occur in the future.
